So good to get uptake again for what I have always believed has a great deal of potential to grow into something really special.
We had four submissions - ‘School’s Out’ by Mick Clark, part of a novel, a short story, ‘Prime Minister’s Questions’ by Matthew Pountney, another short story by AR Bowden called ‘George’s Blue Period’ and an extract/short story or possibly memoir by Christine Beck, ‘Kayode’.

‘School’s Out’ described by Mick as a coming-of-age story, is basically a single scene of a boy, Malky, being pursued, bullied and essentially tortured by a gang of other schoolchildren on the last day of school. Christine thought it was ‘so visceral I had to stop reading’. Matthew really enjoyed the extract, saying it was very evocative of being at a school.
