Boot Club News
Howard Jacobson, Emerging Writers Club, Jordan Peterson and Special Offer To Avoid Rising Subscription Costs...
I’ve decided to do a news post every now and then, just to keep subscribers up to date with what’s going on, and what will be going on at the Boot Club.
The good news is that an old pal, Howard Jacobson, Booker Prize winner and one of our greatest novelists and essayists is going to do an interview with me on the craft of writing, hopefully early in November. Watch this space for further details.
There was a Zoomcast of the Emerging Writers’ Club this Tuesday last. Although, as usual, it was very enjoyable, only a handful of people turned up. In fact two of the five people who had actually submitted material didn’t show. This suggests to me that the EWC might not have much more life in it, despite the enthusiasm of those who do get involved. I’ll keep you posted, but if you want me to keep it going, please let me know and if I get enough positive encouragement, I will call out for some more submissions
Next Wednesday, Jordan Peterson is appearing at the O2 centre in London.
I was the first journalist in the UK to interview Dr Peterson. I have since become somewhat disillusioned with his sometimes hysterical and controvrersial Twitter posts, and my interest in him remains focused around when he first emerged from the shadows as as story theorist and philosopher/psychologist rather then a culture warrior. It is at this moment, before he became infamous ( rather than famous) that I spent several hours talking to him in the summer of 2017. I am going to post the raw interview material this Saturday for anyone who is interested.
Finally, my subscription rates are going up, also this Saturday. However if you have been thinking of becoming a paying subscriber now is the moment to sign up, because you will only pay the current rate in perpetuity if you become a subscriber before the Saturday deadline.
Please take advantage of the offer, and join the audience for writings posts, essays, the archive and much more.
Best

Hi Tim
I've checked and re-checked but no details or link to the Tuesday Zoom has reached my inbox.
This is, probably down to my email. I lost access to my long-time hotmailco.uk account; started a fresh outlook.com account and I am receiving messages, including from you into that imbox. It took a while but Microsoft did reinstate my access to my hotmail.co.uk after a week or so. Now I've actually go three different MS inboxes (no idea about why the third) with different numbers of emails in the inbox.
Just saying the wires, as in my case, getting crossed at MS Outlook may be explaining why Tuesday evening was attended by a small number (and I'd not, in any case, been able to access the Google doc to read what had been posted).
I used Bing and there's a lot of intrusive ChatBOT GP4 guff being 'pushed' into emails.
No doubt, like fog, the lie of the online land will clear.
Hi Tim, please don't take my non-attendance at your 'live' events as indifference or a lack of interest in any way, shape or form. It's just that I'm based in Sydney Australia and as such the timings of the meetups are just not feasible for me (given my 'real world' work scheduling demands). That said, I adore the missives and messages you share and find them equally interesting, informative, inspiring and entertaining. They alone are well worth the subscription! In short, I hope you keep EWC going too!
