Ten Shun!
I have been wracking my brain to work out what would be the most effective way of getting Boot Camp writers to share their creative efforts - with one another as well as with me.
I think I’ve come up with something that might work - but if it doesn’t, we can work on it together and make it better. Feed back on this thread and let me know your thoughts/suggestions.
So this is the deal as I currently imagine it:
At the bottom of this Thursday newsletter, I want people to post their work on the Comment Thread.
Any submission can be up to 5,000 words long ( although I suspect the shorter it is, the more feedback from other subscribers you are likely to get).
It should be accompanied, if possible, by a brief story outline to put the submission into context.
IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE INCLUDE A WORD COUNT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DOCUMENT.
The work should be submitted in one of three ways.
You can create a Google Document. If you haven’t done this before it’s very simple, just search ‘Google Docs’. Create a document, then write or paste your submission into it. After that, go to ‘Share’ in the top right hand corner of your Google doc. Then go to ‘General Access’ and click ‘Anyone With The Link’. Then copy and paste the URL ( that’s the web address that appears in the search box at the top of your server page) on the Boot Camp Comment Thread. That’s it.
OR You can create your own Substack newsletter by going to substack.com and following the instructions there. Then other Boot Camp subscribers can follow you directly, and you can post the link to your newsletter onto the Comment Thread below.
If you can’t make those work, as an emergency tactic, you COULD post directly onto the comment thread - but I wouldn’t recommend it, and it will clutter up the thread something rotten.
THEN WHAT HAPPENS IS:
