Hi Boot Campers
I have been thinking of running a Summer writing course of twelve 90-120 minute interactive Zoom sessions for up to 16 writers, for beginners up to intermediate writers.
Each session will start with a brief lecture by me and will be followed by conversation and supervised group teaching/sharing. The group will each be asked to read and comment on one another’s submissions. Readings and exercises will be set. The sessions will be recorded and available for reference for those who want a recap or who have missed a session.
Subjects covered will include character, plot, dialogue, style , theme, time and place, showing vs telling, the psychology of writing and point of view and finishes with sessions on how to edit and present your work to publishers and agents.
It is based on a course I taught at the Faber Academy for UEA writing students.
The cost of the course will be £500. It will run from July- September. All sessions will be recorded and posted for reference.
If you are interested, please post at the end of this thread and I will email you directly with further details.
Given the amount of time and preparation involved, I have concluded that I will only be able to run the class if I get a full subscription of 16 participants. This post is an attempt to guage the level of interest in such a course.
Please do let me know if you might like to be involved in the comment thread below. And any suggestions for what you would like to get out of such a course would also be welcome.
Dear Tim
So sorry for the late reply.
I have realized it is probably not to be - this year !
also - not quite comfortable with giving email on thread.
I hope to be back though.
All the best
Clare
